What you’ll be doing:
Role: Staff Product Designer
Crisis Text Line’s mission is to promote mental well-being for people wherever they are. We aim to make crisis support available to a global audience. Our technology powers our US operations, as well as those of our international partners. To grow this impact worldwide, we need an exceptional product designer who can untangle complex problems and deliver an intuitive, multitasking experience for our users that will drive our next generation, AI-enabled, global enterprise SaaS platform.
You’ll apply research, systems design, and interaction design to craft experiences that support user and business needs, helping to shape our product lifecycle and team processes. Designers here work across multiple information systems, communicate their work cross-departmentally, along with having strong UX design and UI skills.
Responsibilities:
Crisis Text Line is a fast moving, growing organization with a big vision and a critical mission. To serve our mission and vision, each role must be agile and flexible to meet the needs of the business, aligning daily work with business priorities as defined by managers and team leaders.
Function 1 – User Research and Design Exploration:
- Partner with researchers and product managers to understand user needs and requirements, and translate insights into design opportunities
- Use data collected from research, user testing, and market analysis to inform human-centered designs
- Communicate conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale both verbally and visually through user flows, wireframes, and prototypes
Function 2 – Collaborative Design and Implementation:
- Work collaboratively with development and data teams to ensure that design specifications are implemented accurately
- Contribute and maintain patterns and documentation for our emerging Design System
- Ensure our work scales and flexes across a variety of global audiences, abilities, devices, and platforms
Function 3 – Design Advocacy and Leadership:
- Engage with users and leverage data and evidence to make confident design decisions
- Exercise ethical decision-making to ensure our products and services are accessible and human-centered
- Advocate empathetically for the users to cross-functional teams.
- Champion user-centric design and inclusive approaches within the larger organization
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in user experience design or industry experience
- 5+ years demonstrated ability of problem-solving and designing in complex, enterprise applications at similar scale
- Effective ability in storytelling to communicate ideas to the broader organization and stakeholders
- Strong strategic thinking, collaboration, and communication skills
- Ability to conduct user research and translate insights from customer interviews, usability tests and metrics into actionable design opportunities
- Provides and receives constructive feedback from design, product, and engineering gracefully as part of the creative process
- Ability to facilitate design workshops and collaborative sessions across cross-discipline teams
Reliable High-Speed Internet Required: Must have a stable high-speed internet connection to support seamless remote collaboration, virtual meetings, online job tasks, etc.
The full salary range for this position, across all United States geographies, is $103,000-$146,000 per year. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience; during the interview process, candidates will learn the starting salary range applicable for their location. We pay competitively in the tech-forward nonprofit space and offer a robust benefits package.
