Rackspace United States - Remote Full-time

The Project Manager II at Rackspace Technology is responsible for small to medium-sized projects with well-defined scope requiring manageable scope control, moderate complexity, and limited risk. Projects may be concurrent or overlap supporting our Data Center Migration organization.
Location: Remote in the United States of America

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a single project or multiple concurrent projects with well-defined scope, moderate complexity and limited, contained risk exposure.
  • Deliver on project objectives by developing and managing schedule, scope, risks, and issues.
  • Assess and manage project variances (e.g. schedule variance); evaluate impacts on the overall project commitments, evaluate and present options, and implement approved changes.
  • Maintain accountability for managing expectations and ensuring quality. Maintain accountability for providing timely communications, managing expectations, and assuring quality.
  • Provide tactical leadership regarding project priorities, timeline, resources, and issues.
  • Provide ongoing work direction to project team. Provide performance feedback for team members as appropriate.
  • Foster knowledge exchange.
  • Create an environment that enhances team motivation.

Knowledge

  • Intermediate understanding of project management principles.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the project lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with project planning and support tools such as MS Project, Project Workbench, MS Office and Lotus Notes.
  • Ability to monitor progress and status of deliverables and communicate appropriately.
  • Ability to capture status updates using the appropriate tools.
  • Ability to communicate impact of status changes to overall project plan/progress.
  • Demonstrated delivery of service meeting customer expectations. Excellent time management, communications, decision making, presentation, human relations, and organization skills.
  • Ability to balance scope, tasks, schedule, quality, resources, and budget.
  • Practical application of accepted project lifecycle practices/methodology.
  • Basic understanding of the business and related technology needs.
  • Ability to understand critical factors and impacts surrounding issues and to make a reasonable decision.
  • Ability to resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while responding well to constant changes and resource constraints.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in related field specialized training, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-5 years of IT project management or equivalent leadership experience.

Physical Demands

  • General office environment. Moderate levels of stress may occur at times.
  • May require long periods sitting and viewing a computer monitor.
  • No special physical demands required.
  • Schedule flexibility to include working every other Friday & Saturday 8:30 pm – 6 am regularly and holidays as required by the business for 24/7 operations.
