The Project Accountant II supports the revenue generation cycle and is responsible for invoicing, purchase orders, billing rules, deposits, cash applications, and monthly revenue entries.  Other duties include contract reviews, project activations, and overall financial activities that measure and monitor project financial performance, and other tasks, as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the revenue generation cycle by processing, analyzing, and troubleshooting time sheets, expense reports, billing rules, client invoices, client deposits, project tracking tools, and systems.
  • Supports the overall portfolio of clients through partnerships with Business Development, Proposals, and Project Management.
  • Communicates with the Project Team (Business Development, Proposals, Activation Administrators, Staff/Project Accountants, Resourcing, Project Management) proactively & investigates financial inquiries.
  • Supports the Proposal process by completing financial contract reviews, including project estimation review and support. 
  • Authorizes final project activation based on client contracts and client relationship status, escalating to management when necessary.
  • Approves project timesheet and invoice adjustments, escalating to management when necessary.
  • Reviews project details to ensure accuracy of data and alignment between systems.
  • Analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
  • Works with functional areas to understand and support reporting needs based on the requirements of internal and/or external customers.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements within assigned projects and activities.
  • Undertakes special projects as assigned and able to make recommendations. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

Requirements:

  • Bachelor level degree in Accounting, Finance, required.
  • Minimum 2-4 years related work experience.
  • Service Industry experience preferred.
  • Experience participating on a cross-functional team.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills and be able to prepare and analyze financial information.
  • Must have excellent Excel skills, including data mining and data analysis.
  • Must be capable of exercising good judgment in areas of moderate to high complexity when the situation warrants.
  • High level understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • High level analytical capabilities.
  • High math competency level; very detail oriented.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Self-starter and motivation to accomplish tasks with minimal direction.
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office applications.  Salesforce, NetSuite and OpenAir a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects.
