At Twinkl Private Tutors, our mission is to ensure every tutor has everything they need to help their students achieve their goals.

As the Segment Manager within the Private Tutors team, you’ll work closely with our brilliant Segment Assistant, to ensure we are meeting the needs of the private tutor market. In this ever-changing educational climate, we have provided consistent support, advice, and inspiration for all tutors whether their sessions take place online or face to face. This is a rapidly growing segment with a great deal of potential within the Twinkl brand. We work with huge ammounts of creative freedom, allowing us to respond quickly to the ever-changing needs of our market. This role is perfect for an ambitious and proactive individual who is able to use their entrepeneurial spirt and creative ideas to help us continually meet the needs of all tutors.

You’ll be moving into this position leading a small team (with support of many) so a proactive approach to work is essential as you take an iterative approach, employing different marketing and business techniques to get the message out to the Private Tutors community. You’ll be the person responsible for defining, building and managing the team to support user growth within the Private Tutors segment. You will be commercially minded and comfortable in making decisions on where to pursue opportunities. You will be responsible for reporting monthly and quarterly in line with business expectations.

This is a varied role that involves both proactive strategic planning and reactive work as we pivot and respond to the demands of a growing market.

A typical week could involve any of the following:

  • Sales and marketing – spreading the word to new Private Tutor customers, whom we can help and support.
  • Overseeing our social media activity and making sure the right messages reach our customers at the right time.
  • Digital optimisation – looking at the overall user experiences for Private Tutor users on the Twinkl site, working with our web and design team to continuously improve this.
  • Business management and strategy – putting plans in place to help achieve our ambitious growth targets.
  • Working with other segment managers & country managers to understand what’s working and how we can improve.

To succeed in the role, you will have:

  • A strong entrepreneurial mindset and a propensity for action
  • Thorough knowledge of the Private Tutor market, knowing their pain points and what Twinkl can do to support them
  • Sound decision-making skills and diligence in seizing new opportunities
  • Commercially astute and a strategic thinker who is comfortable taking calculated risks and being accountable for successes and failures, setting SMART targets and reporting at all levels
  • Ability to communicate a shared vision and motivate individuals and a team
  • Methodical, highly organised, accurate and execution focused.

You’ll work with:

  • Our wonderful Segment Assisant Susie
  • Our Head of England Segments
  • Our Chief Commercial Officer
  • An amazing team of other Segment Managers covering Trainees & ECT’s, Teaching Assistants, SEND, Supply Teachers, Childminders, Home Educators, KS3/4, EYFS, KS2 Teachers, SLT and KS1 Teachers.
  • Our team of brilliant Product Owners to help market some of their expert content in the best way to the Private Tutors market.

How your great work and the success of your activities will be measured in this role:

  • Daily revenue as per the annual forecast
  • New sales achievement
  • Total users achievement
  • NPS
