Practice Manager – Architecture & Engineering (Remote role in USA)

As a Practice Manager, you will:
- Lead Professional Development of staff – Helping staff in learning/improving new skills and directing toward training
- Career management – Close the gaps between skill and goals
- Assist in the identification, growth, and evolution of leaders reporting to you and your leads
- Encourage collaboration between your leads and their reports, but also maintain an active ownership relationship of your entire team
- Hold regular 1:1 discussion with your team of Leads, covering topics such as:
- Issues & challenges in engagements, or achieving objectives for them, or for their reports
- Understand utilization challenges and resourcing preferences from the Lead’s team
- Promote consistent delivery from the practice by ensuring tech standards and best practices are followed
- Provide technical oversight
- Act as internal escalation point for project issues
- Actively participate in central resourcing, having a real-time understanding of the utilization of your reports and advocating for them in resourcing conversations
- Contribute to the recruitment process for practice via technical screening, interviewing and hiring recommendations
- Work with Talent Management and Recruiting teams to scale our talent’s learning and profiles.
- Act as Solution Architect on assigned projects
- Understand metrics important to our business such as utilization, margins, and revenue goals. Identify patterns and opportunities to optimize the above.
- Learn about other Practice areas and BUs and understand how all the pieces connect together
- Continue learning about new services offered by AWS and other related solutions
- Learn new techniques to improve delivery and customer engagements
- Help with driving and executing strategic initiatives (being part of the business thought leadership)
- Support marketing and business development initiatives to generate sales opportunity leads
- Act as a SME on strategic pursuits
- Work closely with pre-sales SA’s on validation and oversight of statements of work with regards to approach, adoption of best practices and technologies, effort estimations, and liability risks
- Provide guidance to the resourcing team for SOW skill set requirements
- Work closely with principal engineers to generate new work streams with current customers
- Act as an approver for Technical Content on submitted SOWs
