Job Purpose:

 

The Pharmacy Operations Implementation Specialist will support new and existing initiatives aimed at advancing the specialty pharmacy operations of partner health systems. As a key member of the Shields cross-functional implementation team, you will work closely with our health system partners to support physical buildout of the specialty pharmacy, ensure timely implementation of pharmacy operating systems (IT and telecommunications), and develop appropriate pharmacy workflows to facilitate efficient specialty pharmacy operations. You will cultivate multi-level client relationships with pharmacy department and other administrative personnel and engage extensively to provide a high level of support, share best practices across our hospital partner sites, and ensure completion of project tasks by target dates. As a pharmacy operations specialist, you will serve as a technical resource expert both internally and with partner health systems.

 

 

Job Duties:

 

  • Conducting pharmacy operations gap analyses at partner health systems
  • Supporting vendor selection processes for pharmacy fixtures, furniture and equipment, pharmacy software, shipping software, POS system, cold chain solution, ACD phone system, after-hours answering service, and shipping/delivery services.
  • Supporting implementation of pharmacy IT and telecommunications systems
  • Assist partner health system in setting up wholesaler accounts
  • Actively engaging partners to ensure adequate progress towards target deadlines
  • Assisting with the completion of forms/applications as needed
  • Developing process flow diagrams for standard pharmacy operations including workflows for pharmacy personnel interacting with remote teams including clinic-based pharmacy liaisons and centralized clinical pharmacy team in Stoughton, MA
  • Updating internal project tracking document(s) and sharing updates with supervisor
  • Representing pharmacy operations team in internal and partner meetings including weekly partner site facilities/construction meetings
  • Participating in pharmacy site visits as necessary including pharmacy go-live support
  • Other duties assigned within the scope of pharmacy operations implementation

 

 

Education/Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of pharmacy technician experience in an outpatient pharmacy setting (retail, mail-order, specialty)
  • 1+ years of experience working in a client facing capacity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint (at least intermediate level)
  • Willingness to travel to client sites on a short notice
  • Experience in hospital-based outpatient and specialty operations
  • Pharmacy operations supervisor/manager experience
  • Familiarity with multiple pharmacy operating systems (Rx30, Epic Willow, Cerner Retail, QS1, ScriptPro, etc…)
  • Experience managing/owning workstreams in a professional services environment
  • Working knowledge Microsoft Vizio, specifically creating process flow diagrams
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or Smartsheet
  • Familiarity with pharmacy shipping and cold chain solutions
  • Pharmacy call center experience
  • Strong client management capabilities and ability to interface well with all levels of a large organization/ hospital systems
  • Highly proficient organizational and project management capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with limited supervision or within a team
  • Goal-oriented with the ability to produce results by working within established deadlines and understanding next steps
  • Ability to support multiple work streams simultaneously with the ability to prioritize appropriately
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and changing priorities
  • Detail-oriented and capable of defining requirements and communicating priorities to internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to quickly identify, extract, and learn relevant information
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, technical environment
