Finance at Brex
The Finance team leads financial planning & analysis, business finance, corporate development, capital markets, and Board & investor relations. We strive to be agents of change and strategic thought partners to the business. We actively participate in driving corporate strategy and translating that into execution by the business units. We are integrated with teams across go-to-market, product, engineering, and operations, and work closely with them to evaluate key questions, solve problems, and drive results to maximize Brex’s long term shareholder value. We are deeply involved in long-term planning and strategic decisions for the company.

What You’ll Do

We are currently searching for an exceptional Director to join our GTM Finance team and build the Marketing Finance function from the ground-up and partner with our executive team to maximize ROI from our GTM investments.

In this role, you will work closely with our CMO and CRO to shape and execute on our financial strategy for our Marketing team, and translating this to success for the Sales team. You will support these leaders by developing and implementing data-driven and high-impact initiatives aimed at driving growth, improving efficiency, and increasing profitability, while serving as a connective tissue within the business. You will own pipeline forecasts and goals, including quotas, and create frameworks for evaluating customer acquisition efficiency. You will bring both the financial and commercial point of view, and need to embrace challenges and structure complex problems. High exposure to the executive leadership, regularly delivering analysis and recommendations directly to the Leadership Team and participating in the narrative and analysis for the Board of Directors and other investors.

The GTM Finance Team sits within the Strategic Finance team at Brex and our team excels in the below skill sets: 

  • Cross-functional alignment – we work on complex problems that cut across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Product Marketing, Ops, CX, and more which requires the ability to generate buy-in from a wide set of stakeholders on key initiatives.
  • Business intelligence – we are a data driven organization that always brings data to support our decision-making. When data is not available we find it including in market and competitive research. We effectively convey complex financial information to various stakeholders in order to influence decisions. 
  • Problem solving – ability to lead with solutions by defining an ambiguous problem, processing information, applying decision making and creativity, and generating buy-in around the solution. This requires the ability to not only track and improve key metrics, but define what those key metrics are.

  • Operate as the trusted business partner to the Marketing team. Help Marketing establish investment frameworks and tie their efforts to the financial plan. Partner with the Monetization team within Finance to ensure Marketing’s efforts are aligned to our pricing strategy and deal desk activities. Represent the marketing team priorities in monetization discussions.
  • Own the pipeline forecast, economics, and ROI models including identifying and implementing strategies to improve CAC and CAC Paybacks. Play a leading role in bi-annual planning to support decision making around pipeline priorities and tradeoffs, across all customer and product segments in the business. Support FP&A in understanding how to forecast Marketing investments.
  • Partner with each Marketing leader to own key business metrics. Set goals in planning, track to outcomes, and provide metric deep dive analysis. Help tie marketing-related goals (leads, meetings, conversion) to financial and sales goals. 
  • Support cross-cutting initiatives such as attribution model design and win-rate analysis. Provide the centralized PoV on all Marketing business deep-dives requested by C-Suite by being the expert in business context and priorities. 
  • Prepare and deliver management presentations for leadership to analyze results and present forecasts, build narratives that describe business strategy and performance, assess business risk and operating health, and align cross functional teams to effective solutions


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant financial experience working directly with GTM teams, having held positions of increasing scope and responsibility at a high-growth tech company. Prior background in investment banking or private equity, or in a SaaS company or other recurring revenue model, is a plus. 
  • Mastery of Excel and PowerPoint with proven experience in building financial models and managing complex data. Familiarity with Looker databases and Salesforce is a plus.
  • Comfortable interacting with internal and external senior level executives.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with proven success partnering and collaborating across various functions.
  • A creative curiosity, collaborative ethic, hardworking enthusiasm and driving personal vision.
  • A penchant for multi-tasking and self-starting.

The expected salary range for this role is $232,000-$290,000 USD. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
