The Director of Healthcare Equity will steward the development and implementation of our healthcare equity commitment to delivering equitable clinical outcomes and transforming the healthcare experience for all. This Director will partner with cross functional teams throughout the organization to meet and exceed our goals to decrease healthcare disparities and realize health equity in the communities we serve. The Director of Healthcare Equity will be the leader responsible for the investigative data analysis, solutioning, and execution of key initiatives and projects and ensure they meet our clinical and financial healthcare equity goals and drive measurable continuous improvement. They will collaborate with other leaders to develop and implement processes, pilots, and partnerships to reduce healthcare inequity and disparities for under-resourced and historically marginalized communities.
Primary Duties:
Performance Improvement:
- Provide direct leadership, oversight and accountability for the operational effectiveness and continuous performance improvement of our healthcare equity strategy as an individual contributor.
- Improve healthcare equity focused clinical quality by leveraging analytics and population/patient level intelligence to design and test clinical and practice interventions that measurably improve quality of care by identifying and addressing root causes of disparities in clinical outcomes
- Lead healthcare equity focused clinical innovation through evidence based best practice, testing and learning, creating, implementing and scaling new models of care delivery and advanced technology solutions that expand equitable access to care and healthcare equity
- Develop a robust set of equitable care interventions and programs, grounded in clinical evidence and supported by strong research and analytics.
- Create clinical leader decision support services and playbooks for healthcare equity programs (e.g. blood pressure control)
- Lead in the execution of company-wide and market level healthcare equity performance goals and quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop and manage program timelines with regard to deliverables and milestones and engage in such work with a firm understanding of long-range program goals and institutional relationships.
- Partner with product, technology, and analytics to identify opportunities and gaps, develop performance metrics, and track outcomes.
- Create reports, recommendations to improve performance, and presentations in support of making healthcare equity performance visible and applicable to diverse internal and external audiences
Stakeholder Management:
- Establishes and hard-wires a culture of continuous improvement with matrix partners at all levels of the organization. Drives execution of initiatives and programs via strategic stakeholder management with internal and external partners
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 12+ years of progressive working experience in a clinical environment required (FQHC, RHC, academic medical center, integrated health system, community health practice preferred), including 5+ years of demonstrated experience leading and implementing healthcare equity focused clinical quality program and process improvement initiatives
- Formal training as a clinician, allied health professional or in public health, epidemiology, health services research, quality improvement, data analytics or health informatics is highly desired
Preferred Qualifications:
- Lean Six Sigma/ Program or Project Management certification preferred
- Ability to successfully lead a cross functional team charged with creating transformative interventions and technologies that are data informed and evidence backed to advance equitable healthcare and reduce disparities
- Experience in stakeholder management with a proven ability to communicate effectively with senior management and key stakeholders on cross-functional teams adapting voice and content as appropriate for each audience.
- Ability to delegate where appropriate and hold owners accountable, anticipating roadblocks early in the process and working to remove them
- Lead with a high degree of emotional intelligence
- Highly efficient and detail-oriented in planning and executing diverse tasks with the ability to use independent judgment and work under pressure on competing responsibilities with resilience and a high level of ownership
- Facility leveraging data and developing insights for decision-making: using quantitative and qualitative data to validate/invalidate assumptions and prioritize where to invest resources for maximum impact.
- Proven track record of designing, implementing, and evaluating initiatives and projects that result in a measurable improvements to meet organizational goals
- Experience with matrix organizations, business projects, multi-disciplinary teams and strategic change management projects
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time. Extensive use of computers and keyboard. Occasional walking and lifting may be required.
