We are looking for a dynamic data science leader to advance our machine learning practice. In this player/coach role, you will own the data science roadmap and priorities from end-to-end, playing a hands-on role in everything from model building to ML infrastructure development, while also nurturing and growing a small team of data scientists. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Build world-class data products, world-class data science, and machine learning practice
  • Lead data science and applied machine learning efforts at the company level 
  • Determine how data science and machine learning are best leveraged across the business, partnering with stakeholders in product, engineering, and leadership to build and prioritize a roadmap of initiatives and data products
  • Play a hands-on role in all facets of model development and deployment
  • Partner with engineering to define and build best-in-class machine learning tools, workflows, and infrastructure
  • Manage, mentor, and grow a small team of data scientists

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • 8+ years of experience in data science, algorithmic engineering or machine learning
  • 3+ years of experience managing a team of data scientists in a rapidly scaling technology company
  • Deep technical background. MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Operations Research or related field; or equivalent experience
  • The ability to apply your technical know-how in a variety of contexts – hands-on work; coaching and mentoring the team; influencing company strategy and roadmap
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Adept at bringing structure to initially unstructured domains, and driving clarity and decision velocity on projects with multiple stakeholders
  • A track record of shipping data products and iterating on them
