A bit about us
We’re Doccla, the virtual ward company. We provide patients and clinicians with the transformative power of remote patient monitoring.
Our existing customers are Hospitals, Community Services, and NHS Commissioners that we partner with to deliver tech enabled virtual wards. With our technology, logistics, and support patients can be discharged from a hospital ward to a virtual one and recover in the comfort of their own homes. Patients love our care pathways and health services become more efficient; it’s a win-win.
We are a young company with big aims and a lot of momentum. In the summer of 2022 we raised $18M in an oversubscribed A round led by General Catalyst, a top tier global VC fund and have gone from strength to strength since: we’ve won a series of large multiyear NHS contracts, extended 100% of our existing client contracts.
This is your chance to join us at a key stage of our growth. Our ambition is to be a category leader for virtual healthcare. You will be joining a highly entrepreneurial team that combines technical, clinical, operational, and commercial colleagues.
We’re solving real problems for patients and health systems. we’re looking for dedicated people with a passion for healthcare.

The Role:
You will be helping us realise and steer a cloud presence that enables our builder teams, technologists, and users to safely, securely, rapidly and easily leverage the cloud services they need in order to accelerate patient care in our virtual ward.
You’ll work in partnership with the business to enable and automate complex workloads that support our engineering, data, and core tooling pipelines, and you will be providing systems that optimise for both batch and continuous workloads.
Our vision is a platform that epitomises the best of modern cloud practices – leveraging immutable infrastructure, zero trust and effective pipelines to allow our teams to quickly operationalise workloads that have compliance, security, observability, logging, and alerting baked in, and we’re growing a team passionate to deliver it.
Key Responsibilities:
- Linux Systems Administration:
- Manage and maintain Linux-based systems (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS) in cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Perform regular updates, patches, and configuration management to ensure system integrity and compliance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Linux-related issues in cloud environments, including performance bottlenecks, network issues, and application failures.
- Automation and Scripting:
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or PowerShell to streamline cloud operations and administrative tasks.
- Integrate automation with cloud-native services for CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and infrastructure orchestration.
- Monitoring, Logging, and Incident Management:
- Troubleshoot and respond to incidents, outages, and performance issues, providing timely resolutions and root cause analysis.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for incident management and escalation.
- Security and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational policies, including data protection, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:
- Work closely with development, DevOps, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud services and infrastructure.
- Contribute to cloud architecture reviews, capacity planning, and cost management strategies.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud environments, Linux configurations, automation processes, and incident response plans.
- Mentor and train junior team members and colleagues on Linux operations, and automation tools.
We’re looking for someone who:
Genuinely cares and enjoy helping your users, whilst balancing their needs with the business needs. You pursue tangible outcomes but have an incredible eye for detail. You have excellent interpersonal skills/EQ, you are a low ego learner and sharer. You pride yourself on your ability to collaborate closely with the whole team.
- Experience:
- 1+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer or DevOps Engineer.
- 2+ years experience as a Systems administrator or IT manager
- Technical Skills:
- Strong Linux systems administration skills, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and scripting.
- Good knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS) and cloud services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda).
- Experience with automation and scripting languages (Ansible, Bash, Python, PowerShell).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM Templates.
- Knowledge of networking, storage, virtualization, and security in cloud environments and on-prem environments
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Nice to have:
- Background in System and network administration
Working Conditions:
- May require after-hours work and participation in on-call rotations.
- Remote UK or hybrid (flexible!)
