YOUR ROLE
The Controller is responsible for leading and directing Stio’s accounting functions. This includes management of bookkeeping, internal controls, and financial reporting. This role establishes and maintains all accounting related policies and procedures, and works cross functionally to validate efficiency and training. The Controller manages and coaches a growing staff of accounting professionals, and will be key in developing the foundation, team, systems, and processes to support growing complexity.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes
- Manage third party financial and banking audits
- Document, monitor, and update accounting policies
- Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations
- Manage monthly financial reporting, including financial statements
- Manage internal controls
- Maintain accurate inventory accounting for costing and units on hand
- Maintain accurate accounting records for all general ledger accounts
- Manage cash flow and forecasting of payments
- Assist organizational leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process
- Support and manage payroll processing in coordination with HR
- Oversee and support a team environment that promotes high performance, collaboration, ownership, and individual development

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field. Additional education is preferred.
- 1+ years of Controller (or similar) experience preferred, 7+ years of accounting experience required
- CPA license required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of seniority
- People management experience required
- Demonstrated ability to manage, lead change, and build process improvements
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and review skills
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of Accounting software and databases, preferably Oracle Netsuite
- Strong familiarity with US GAAP
- Proven experience in reporting, budgeting, and internal controls required
- Exceptional analytical skills
- Public accounting background preferred
