The Harris Poll Remote Full-time

The Harris Poll is seeking a Business Development Researcher to join The Harris Poll Media, Entertainment, and Technology team. While the primary responsibilities of this unique role will be to help our expert and energetic group continue to build and expand their client base, we are looking for someone who is also an experienced research practitioner, able to design and pitch studies and  programs to clients as well as collaborate with our research team on creating and polishing deliverables from time to time.
Our team focuses on both quantitative and qualitative custom research projects which often include a wide range of solutions, including advanced analytics and behavioral science-based tools for emotional analysis, among the general population as well as members of clients’ insight communities. Our foundation and heritage are the media, entertainment, and technology, spaces in which the ideal candidate would have a strong network base, but we also partner with consumer goods and services clients.

  • Pitch and sell research
  • Proactively lead targeted outreach strategies to grow our net-new client portfolio
  • Expand opportunities with current clients, including increasing scope and frequency of projects with currently engaged business units and moving into new business units
  • Understand and articulate The Harris Poll’s value proposition to prospective and existing clients
  • Drive proposal writing and conduct urgent, consistent follow ups with clients
  • Identify, source, and evaluate leads, manage subsequent outreach, and schedule meetings with client decision-makers
  • Understand and develop a POV on ideas that excite clients
  • Create and continuously hone messaging templates and campaign templates
  • Collaborate with our research team on capabilities presentations
  • Cultivate and maintain a new-business pipeline through prospecting and networking
  • Generate and secure meetings with potential clients through messaging and cold outreach
  • Own all aspects of pricing, including collecting bids, putting together pricing packages, and keeping the sales database up to date
  • Contribute to research design
  • As necessary, contribute to producing research deliverables

Experience & Skills:

  • Hands-on experience as a market researcher, ideally 3+ years
  • Work experience in media/entertainment and/or technology with current connections/relationships, ideally 3+ years
  • Ideally 1+ years of sales experience that includes prospecting strategies, cold calls, lead generation, and closed business
  • Experience distilling complex topics into key takeaways
  • Willingness to search for and identify the ideal company and decision makers for our team and work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience presenting
  • Willingness to collaborate, including giving and receiving feedback
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rolled-up-sleeves environment
