About Griffin

Hi, we’re Griffin! We’re the bank for companies who want to build and launch financial products.

Our context

We’re rapidly heading towards a future where most of us access financial services through technology companies rather than high street banks. All sorts of companies are now embedding financial products into their apps and user journeys so that their customers can seamlessly make payments, manage expenses, take out loans, save, invest, and do more.

The problem is that companies are still dependent on legacy banking infrastructure if they want to offer regulated financial products. They need to either partner directly with an (slow-moving, risk-averse) incumbent bank and/or stitch together middleware from various Banking as a Service (BaaS) providers. This process is slow, expensive, and complex and makes it very hard for companies to get new financial products off the ground.

The Design team

We’re a small team of designers and engineers specialising in product, brand and content. We’re designing for a future of programmable finance. The space is inherently complex and the bar for solutions is high, which creates opportunities for design to have an outsized impact on our customers’ success.

We care deeply about creating an exceptional end-to-end user experience, and delivering this at scale. We work from first principles and in close collaboration with other teams. We prioritise thoughtful problem-solving over shipping at breakneck speed. As an early product designer, you will have room to influence foundational design decisions and team culture.

Who are you?

The ideal candidate for this job will have most of the following:

  • High bar for quality and excellent visual, UI and interaction skills
  • Service design mindset, framing problems in context of our UX strategy while executing at low levels of detail
  • Several years’ experience taking user needs and distilling them into a coherent product experience
  • Efficiency prototyping at appropriate levels of abstraction and fidelity
  • Bias towards systems thinking, anticipating the ripple effects that small and large design changes will have across all our products
  • Comfortable working in an open and collaborative design environment where feedback is sought early and often

What will you be doing here?

As a Product Designer at Griffin, you will…

  • Shape the direction and design language of our customer facing banking application
  • Build a deep understanding of banking and payments and partner with a cross-functional team of PMs, engineers, PMMs and operations to execute on our product roadmap
  • Think holistically across all Griffin’s touch points and help create a cohesive customer journey grounded in user research
  • Grow the team culture and help shape our internal processes

N.B: We have a small London office in Moorgate, and we are comfortable hiring people to work from anywhere in the UK. About half of the company is based within occasional commuting distance of London, the other half is full-time remote.
