Intelligencer’s News Editor will drive the site’s news coverage on an hour-to-hour and daily basis, including everything from smart short-form aggregation to ambitious enterprise reporting projects. The editor will bring order, high energy, and an ambitious vision to Intelligencer’s coverage of topics as varied as politics, business and money, public health, and breaking news.

  • Manage Intelligencer’s news-related coverage,  including original reporting and commentary.
  • Manage and edit staff writers working on news-focused content. 
  • Bring in new voices as outside contributors and cultivate relationships with prospective hires.


  • 5+ years of experience as an assigning editor, with a meaningful portion of that time covering politics 
  • Commitment to strong and compelling reporting, smart commentary, and agile news coverage.
  • Adept and skilled as a digital editor, with a proven ability to assign and edit high-impact features, direct reporting projects, manage daily news coverage, and craft headlines.
  • A record of working across organizations with distributed teams.
  • Comfort working within the 24/7 news cycle, an ability to meet deadlines, and a willingness to work nights and weekends as necessary.

This job is Hybrid.
